I’m a big fan of family story movie. Somehow family story always warms my heart in many ways and the most important is I can learn how I should act to my family and how to overcome family issues. Perhaps I consider it as a reference of life LOL. Ok let’s get started to review this movie.

The plot is nice but not that spectacular, otherwise, the story is. This movie tell us about sincerity of a mother. Futaba is a great woman who sincerely rise Azumi, a daughter of his missing husband (Kazuhiro). Azumi don’t know about her true identity, the only this she know about herself is she is Futaba’s real daughter. Even so Futaba never tells her because she loves Azumi so much and always think that Azumi is her real daughter. She don’t want to be separated with Azumi until one day Futaba finds out that she is dying because of cancer.

The first thing she wants to do is finding her husband by using a private detective (Takimoto) service. Then she becomes a good friend of Takimoto  and his daughter. With Takimoto’s help, she finds that Kazuhiro has married again but his current wife is run away so he has to rise his wife’s daughter (Aoi) alone. Knowing that, she makes Kazuhiro back to her house and living as a family again along with Azumi and Aoi.

The second thing she wants to do is making Azumi to be an independent and strong girl. Azumi is a bullied girls in her school. And one day her uniform is hidden by her classmate and she has to wear sport uniform everyday because she doesn’t have a courage to ask the bullies to give her school uniform back. She scolded by her homeroom teacher because she lost her uniform, and after taht she refuse to go to school. For the first time ever Futaba got really angry about Azumi’s weakness. Futaba scolds Azumi but then encourage her to fight back and get her school uniform back. She successfully overcomes her fear and get her uniform back to her hand. 

 The third one is finding someone nice for Azumi. She makes a family trip with Azumi and Aoi (her husband has to keep the bath house running so the family trip is just for 3). In the middle of trip, they meet a young man who ask for a slight ride. He is kindhearted boy who is looking for his purpose of life and identity. He is off from Futaba’s car after he reach the destination place (in the end of story he meets Azumi again and begin to live at her house). Futaba and her children going to a Crab Restaurant where Azumi’s real mother (Mrs. Sakamaki) work in.  Sakamaki don’t realize that the girl in front of her is her daughter and then Futaba slaps her hard after finish eating in that restaurant. Sakamaki is a mute so she is confused to ask what happen to Futaba. Futaba explain the true story she hides so far from Azumi. Azumi can’t accept Sakamaki as her mother, she only wants Futaba as her mother. She refuses to meet her real mother at first but Futaba force her to do so. Azumi don’t have choices but to follow Futaba’s instruction. She meets Sakamaki at café and talk to her.

After go back to the car, Azumi finds Futaba fainted and dying. Futaba is brought into hospital and gets treatment for her cancer there. Azumi, Aoi, and Kazuhiro has to be strong and always smiling in front of Futaba because they don’t want to make Futaba sad. Futaba has her last request to Takimoto. It’s about finding her real mother. Futaba is actually a girl who abandoned by her real mother. She has desire to meet her mother but her mother refuses to do so. In the end of story, people who have been loved by Futaba is really sad losing her but they decided to be a person who is as strong and sincere as Futaba. 

I must say that the cast acting is incredible. They able to deliver the emotion of the story and make the audience receive it well. Rie Miyazawa has high level skill of acting. So natural, tender and able to living the character. As well as Hana Sugisaki. Her expression range is really wide which able to deliver different kind of face expressions. Young and talented is word that can describe her. Odagiri Joe is great as always (I’ve been always his fan fyi, kyaaa <3). Perfect cast I guess plus the cinematography of this movie is quite nice.

So, I conclude that Her Love Boils Bathwater movie’s strong point is the cast superb acting skills & strong family story, no wonder if Riye Miyazawa and Hana Sugisaki won the 40^th Japan Academy Prize as best actress and supporting actress of through this movie.  So I rate 8.5/10 for this great work. Well that’s all my review hope you enjoy it.
