November, 10th 2018 Illustration title : Local Hero Illustrator : Destiana (me) Drawing media : Wacom on Photoshop Drawing date : 26th August 2018 Location : Bhayangkara Street No. 7, Ngampilan, Yogyakarta I'm actually not sure if "becak" is officially recognized as a  traditional local transportation like "andong" in Jogja but in my point of view this transportation is one that makes Jogja like what it is, rich of culture, comfortable and environment friendly, far from over-modernization. This transportation is somehow able to decrease the local character which gradually degraded by unwise industrialization. For only 10 years Jogja is already filled up rapidly with about 95% motorcycles and cars, no place for bicycle and other traditional transportation. Even when The Government create a special tiny spaces for bicycle at front street on traffic light junction, those who are going by motorcycles and cars always take over that space. They al...

Where to Urban-Sketching in Japan

November, 10th 2018 Illustration title : Kendou Illustrator : Destiana (me) Drawing media : Wacom on Photoshop Drawing date : 26th August 2018 If we talk about Japan, we can't separate it from culture and neighborhood's warmth. I really amused by places where local value showed in building & urban design and neighborhood social interaction. They didn’t built their houses by purpose to attract tourists I guess, they just make their own houses with what they believe is good in many aspects, including culture. I can feel the warmth of the houses or buildings as if I can feel the warmth of the people just by looking at them.  If I have a chance to spend 14 days in Japan, I will go to lot of enchanting urban spots to draw all of them since I love to draw especially nature, urban and architectural objects. Here's the list of places that I want to draw in Japan since all of them have unique urban-sketching materials in my opinion : 1.      Shirakaw...

How I Overcome My Fear of Cats

Image
November, 10th 20 Illustration title : Nyantoka Nyaru Illustrator : Destiana (me) Media : Wacom on Photoshop Drawing date : 27th August 2018 I used to be afraid of cats back then. But now I gradually becomes a cat friendly person as I learn how to appreciate every single living thing that exist in this entire universe. I believe God creates living things by lots of complex reason behind it that makes this universe life circle works as He planned. I should be grateful of that, because I’m nothing without other living creatures. When I tried to overcome my fear of cats, I finally understood how human and animal or other living things actually related and need each other. Basically, strong bond between human and other living things created naturally when they approach each other and then care for each other. It’s kind of mutual relationship which naturally made without specified type of language intertwined or we usually named it verbal communication. I currently taking ...

Illustration Title : Himitsu no Basho wo Sagasou! (Eng: Let's Find a Secret Place) Illustrator : Destiana (Me) Date of Drawing : 27th February 2018 Drawing Media : Photoshop This is the first time ever I post my digital drawing in my blog. Well, I usually enjoy drawing manually with watercolor but when I have to stay at home and getting bored in front of computer I will drawing digitally. As far I know, Photoshop is often used by artists and Illustrator is preferred by graphic designers. Photoshop is the most enjoyable app for drawing so far (in my point of view). You know why? That's because it has complete tools for both drawing and photo editing. I love how the blurry effects that Photoshop made from its pixels gives a lively feeling into the drawing. The color blending is awesome, the effects are great, the tool is artist support. But if you're a graphic designer who often makes logo or enlargeable illustration, then Illustrator is better. Illustrator is mo...
